Dr Deborah Chinn is looking for a highly motivated and well-organised Research Assistant to work on an innovative project funded by the National Institute for Health Research School for Social Care Research (NIHR SSCR): Promoting homelike environments for people with intellectual disabilities living in group homes: Using Photovoice visual methods to co-produce and explore the acceptability of a user-generated homeliness checklist and toolkit intervention.
The project aims to understand the perspectives of people with learning disabilities living in group homes on what makes their residences feel 'homely' or 'homelike'. Findings will be used to create resources for inspection and improvement of residential services.
You will work with the research team, under the supervision of the project Principal Investigator (Dr Chinn). You will help to complete an initial review of relevant literature and policy. You will engage with service users with learning disabilities as co-producers of research, using participatory research methods and arts-based practices. This will involve meeting people in their own homes in London and the South East, and helping to conduct group discussions. You will also be involved in the writing up and sharing of research findings.
The post is 4 days a week (FTE 0.8) and is funded until October 2023.
To make informal inquiries about the post, please contact Dr Deborah Chinn deborah [dot] chinn [at] kcl [dot] ac [dot] uk.
