Iona is a PhD student based in the Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Centre. Her research explores how social factors, treatment experiences, and identity contribute to intersectional inequalities in anxiety and depression. She uses quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as patient and public involvement and participatory research practices. Alongside her research, Iona gained policy experience as an intern at the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities. She is a member of her department’s Anti-Racism Working Group, and is passionate about research impact, policy and science communication.

Before starting her PhD, Iona was an operational scientist supporting clinical trials and digital health research. She has an MSc in Developmental Psychology and Psychopathology from King’s College London and a BA (Hons) in Natural Sciences (Psychology) from the University of Cambridge.
