Vision
Our aim is to advance rigorous qualitative research through methodological leadership, collaboration and training, centring lived experience and strengthening research that improves health and healthcare.
Our purpose
The Qualitative Applied Health Research Centre (QUAHRC) at King’s College London is a hub for rigorous, applied qualitative research in health and healthcare. We work collaboratively with researchers, clinicians and communities to develop and apply qualitative methods that improve interventions, services, and health systems. Through methodological leadership, interdisciplinary collaboration, and training, we strengthen the integration of qualitative research across the research lifecycle and support meaningful impact on practice and policy.
Our values
Methodological excellence
We are committed to theoretically informed, ethically grounded, and high-quality qualitative research.
Centring lived experience
We recognise lived experience as essential expertise and work to ensure it meaningfully shapes research.
Equity and inclusion
We prioritise research that addresses inequities and amplifies marginalised perspectives.
Collaboration and co-production
We work in partnership with communities, and across disciplines and sectors, to produce meaningful and relevant research.
Impact and real-world relevance
We aim to ensure qualitative research informs interventions, services, and policy, and improves health and care.
Capacity building and community
We foster supportive environments that develop researchers and strengthen qualitative research practice.
