Dr Julie Williams

Post Doctoral Researcher, Centre for Implementation Science

Dr Julie Williams is a Post Doctoral Researcher based in the Centre for Implementation Science. She is an Occupational Therapist who worked clinically with people using mental health services, particularly people with a serious mental illness, for 10 years. She undertook her PhD at King’s College London which she completed in 2015. In this PhD she developed a Patient Reported Experience Measure for Mental health Recovery which used mixed methods. This PhD was done as part of the Refocus on Recovery programme.

For the past 6 years she has worked on projects which aim to improve the physical health of people using mental health services first with the South London CLAHRC, and since 2019 with the Integrating Our Mental and Physical Healthcare Systems (IMPHS). As part of the Centre for Implementation Science she has also run workshops on using Implementation Science in applied healthcare research and published papers on this.

She also has an interest in improving stakeholder engagement and involvement in research with a particular focus on the involvement of clinical staff.
