Pre-application PPIE support funding is available through the NIHR Research Support Service to help researchers meaningfully involve people and communities while developing a funding application.
This funding is designed to support early involvement that strengthens:
- Research questions and priorities
- Study design and feasibility
- PPIE plans within the application itself
It is particularly useful for researchers who do not yet have established PPIE relationships or who are working with new or under-represented communities.
Video explainer: Pre-application PPIE funding, a short video explaining what pre-application PPIE funding is, who it’s for, and how to apply. (Embedded video directly)
Please note: Researchers must be working with an RSS Adviser and receiving PPIE advice to be eligible to apply for PIER. Please book an appointment with an RSS advisor to discuss the PIER fund and your application.
